Anticipating Minds, Inc. announces the production release of
devAdvantage 2.0.
After a very successful beta program, Anticipating Minds is releasing a new
product platform version that supports C# naming convention rules. In
the next few months you can expect to see additional releases such
as an error handling knowledge pack and a new free Community Edition.
Broadening the Market
devAdvantage 1.0, a tool that automates C# code reviews and fixes the problems
found, was released in October of 2003. The 1.0 release provided rules
targeted at programmers that develop multi-threaded .NET applications.
The
devAdvantage 2.0
release is the first of many rapid releases to broaden the functionality for
every day tasks that all C# developers perform. Version 2.0 will deliver a
collection of
Naming Conventions rules as
well as an enhanced set of
threading rules.
Making it Cost Effective to Enforce Standards
Conforming and enforcing naming conventions across a team of developers can be
challenging, if not impossible. What is more frustrating is that even when
issues are found in code reviews developers don’t always take the time to
correct the issues. Yet, when these types of guidelines are ignored, companies
pay the cost of increased software maintenance.
devAdvantage 2.0, along with the Naming Conventions
Knowledge Pack allows you to quickly detect any naming violations in your C#
code. Taking static code analysis beyond what other automated code review tools
offer, devAdvantage allows you to correct all these C# naming convention
violations in either a single click or by interacting with the product to
collaboratively make fixes. This now makes it feasible and cost-effective for
organizations to realistically enforce programming standards making their
products easier to maintain.
The pricing for
devAdvantage 2.0
will now be:

What to Expect Next
Anticipating Minds will be releasing other work in progress over the next few
months. This will include:
Error Handling Knowledge Pack – In
October 2004 Anticipating Minds will be releasing a new collection of
configurable rules targeting exception handling, exception management, error
logging and tracing – making it easy for developers to ensure their code is
robust and supportable. Like all the rules for devAdvantage, the
error handling rules will
be capable of both detecting and correcting issues.
New Community Edition – Anticipating
Minds will be releasing a new and expanded Community Edition in November 2004
that will significantly expand the features that are free to the community.
This new version will include sample rules from the threading, naming
conventions and error handling knowledge packs as well as new rules around
software metrics, design, .NET usage guidelines and performance. This new
edition will not only demonstrating the power of existing and future
rules, but will stand alone as a valuable tool for any C# developer.
